Booking Information

You do not need a referral to see the physiotherapist however if your doctor has referred you, please bring a copy of your referral and any relevant medical reports or letters with you to your initial appointment. It may also be a good idea to prepare a list of your medical history and current regular medications.

We understand that arranging a baby sitter can be challenging, which is why we offer a child friendly clinic with a supervised play area for kids. We also offer lift access and plenty of space for prams. You are more than welcome to bring your child/children with you to your appointment however please keep in mind that it may be difficult for you to concentrate on the exercises prescribed and the education provided. You may therefore prefer to arrange care for your child/children or bring a support person with you.

You can easily book your appointment using our online system, if you are not very tech-savvy you are welcome to call our friendly admin team to book your appointment over the phone. If you are having difficulty with finding an appointment suitable to you, call us to discuss how we can best accomodate your needs.

What to expect on your initial appointment

During your initial consultation, a thorough verbal history will be taken to better understand your condition. This will help your physiotherapist understand the contributing factors to your problem/s and initiate a tailored treatment program. The initial appointment takes approximately 1 hour. Your physiotherapist will take time to explain and educate you about your pelvic floor problem/s using diagrams and pelvic models. For a complete assessment, a digital vaginal and/or rectal examination may be proposed.  This examination helps to identify to what extent your pelvic floor muscles contribute to your problem/s and helps the treating physiotherapist to prescribe the more effective treatment based on examination findings. For more information on internal pelvic floor examination please read our internal examination information sheet.

We understand the courage it takes to share your health concerns, which is why at Macarthur Women’s Health Physiotherapy, you are guaranteed a private consultation with one of our warm and caring female physiotherapists, who will support you every step of the way.

Cancellation policy

If you would like to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please notify us no less than 48 hours prior to your appointment to avoid a cancellation fee equivalent to the full cost of your consultation fee. We will contact you a week in advance and send a reminder text 3 days prior to your appointment date. To notify us, you may choose to call us, leave a voicemail, send us a message or email us directly.

If you happen to start your menstrual period prior to or on the day of your appointment, you do NOT need to rebook your appointment as our physiotherapy assessment and treatment is not contraindicated in these circumstances. However, if you feel uncomfortable to attend your appointment please call the clinic to discuss with your therapist further.
